E-cars: Higher purchase premium from the Treasury

For purely electric cars below a list price of 40,000 euros, the subsidy increases from the previous 4,000 euros to 6,000 euros. The purchase premium for plug-in hybrids in this price range has also been raised from 3,000 euros to 4,500 euros. More expensive cars, on the other hand, receive slightly lower subsidies. For purely electric cars with a purchase price of more than 40,000 euros, the bonus is 5,000 euros. For the expensive plug-in hybrids, the Treasury contributes 4,000 euros. The money can also be applied for retroactively for vehicles that were registered after November 4, 2019. The aim of the purchase premium is to promote electric mobility. After all, by 2030 on German roads 10 million electric cars be on the move.

Furthermore, the purchase bonus has been extended until the end of 2025. Because the previous bonus was only valid until 2020.

Payment of the purchase premium is subject to several conditions

There are several conditions for plug-in hybrids that must be met in order to be eligible for an award. To do this, they must be able to drive at least 40 kilometers purely electrically before the end of 2021. The cars must then be able to cover 60 kilometers electrically and from 2025 the battery must be sufficient for 80 kilometers electrically.
